Pedestrian knocked by train – Shakaskraal
At approximately 16H00 IPSS Medical responded to reports of a pedestrian been knocked by a train near the Shakas kraal railway station on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.
IPSS paramedics arrived on scene and found an adult male down a 50m embankment next to the railway line in a critical condition. Due to the patients location, access was difficult. IPSS Rescue division was activated. A rope system was setup up and sked was used to bring the patient top side.
The pt sustained an amputated arm and was transported to hospital for further care.
Reports from the scene indicate that the man was knocked by the train while crossing the railway track.
This has been the third train incident this week on the same railway line.
SAPS was on scene and will be investigating.
