The driver of a heavy goods vehicle lost control of his vehicle on the R102 near Shaka’s Kraal this afternoon, before colliding with another heavy goods vehicle and a light motor vehicle. Upon impact the HGV plummeted down a steep embankment and landed in dense vegetation.

Three of the four occupants sustained moderate injuries and one person sustaining critical injuries and required advanced life support intervention. Due to the nature of his critical injuries, attending practitioners opted to utilize the IPSS/Black Eagle aeromedical helicopter to transport the patient to a specialised trauma facility.

All patients were transported to hospital by IPSS Medical Rescue.
