43 Year Old Mother Electrocuted: Buffelsdraai – KZN

43 year old Devki Debidin was killed after she was electrocuted at her home on Buffelsdraai Road in Redcliffe – Verulam this morning (Friday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the wood and iron home at approximately 11:01 after the woman's 9 year old daughter found her lying on the floor of her bathroom.

Upon arrival Debidin was assessed and showed no signs of life. She was declared deceased at the scene. She suffered burns to her face and thigh.

It was established that after finding her mum on the floor Debidin's daughter ran to a neighboring home and called her aunt who upon arrival found her lifeless body on the floor next to the urn (picture 2).

She then switched off the power and carried her sister to the living room before calling RUSA for assistance. Debidin was allegedly boiling water for her morning bath and was in the process of washing the bathroom floor when she was killed.

Her daughter informed Reaction Officers that she had skipped school today after she felt the need to spend more time with her mother when she got up this morning.
