‘Boer soek ‘n vrou” participant arrested
A participant in the reality series ‘Boer soek ‘n vrou” was arrested last week because of alleged fraud.
Toanette Els, 23, a game farmer from Modimolle, who will be seen in the 11th series later this year, was arrested on Friday morning and appeared in the magistrate’s court on the same day in Modimolle. She was released on bail and the case was postponed until 15 August. According to the police statement, Els is accused of advertising a game keeper course on Facebook. The complainant allegedly paid R10 000 to attend the course, but it was later cancelled. “The complainant asked that the accused (Els) repay the money which she promised to do,” said the statement. Els never returned the money and a charge of fraud was brought against her.
Wilmer Müller, spokesperson for ‘Boer soek ‘n vrou”, said they were aware of the allegations against Els and that they respect the legal process. About Els’s participation in the series, Müller says the series has been in production since February. “Episodes are thus shot for a while before it appears on air. Toanette was also identified as one of the top ten in April, “he said.
