Domestic worker, 66, died fighting robbers.

A domestic worker died in the early morning hours of Sunday, 2 December after she bravely fought of robbers in the home of her frail Employer.

Mita Koromang, 66, stood up against armed robbers in the Bloemfontein home of her Employer, Harman Toerien, when they invaded his home on Friday. As reported by Maroela Media, Mita tried to give Herman, a cancer patient who weighs less than 70 kg, and his son Jandré a chance to get away.

She attempted to close the safety gate so the robbers couldn't get to them, but they forced it open. Herman, a writer for Maroela Media, remembers that the robbers couldn't get Mita to be quiet, even after stabbing her four times.

Mita fought back fiercely, but after her head was bashed against a wall, she lost consciousness. It was likely then that she sustained serious damage to her head.

Mita lives on through her children, grandchildren, parents and her husband, who fainted upon hearing the tragic news. Herman struggled against the robbers but almost got stabbed in the process. He was eventually tied up with cable ties. As soon as he could, he went to check on Mita after calling his wife, Joan, and the police. Joan called AfriForum's community watch. The community watch was on the scene quickly and called an ambulance for Mita.

She was treated and stabilised before being rushed to hospital. Herman and his family loved Mita dearly, despite not knowing her too long. He describes her as an angel.
