Funeral Of Eight Killed In Collision: Verulam – KwaZulu-Natal
Five of the eight (8) people killed in a collision between a Mercedes Benz truck and a sliver Ford Bantam on Monday (April 29, 2019) will be buried in Verulam – KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow (Sunday).
Six (6) people were confirmed deceased on scene by Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa who responded to the scene on the Umdloti Beach Road at approx 14:51 on Monday. Six others were transported to various hospital in critical condition. Two of the victims succumbed to their injuries and have since died in hospital.
A mass gathering to pay respects to the deceased will be held tomorrow at the Verulam Recreation Grounds. The Minister of Transport is expected to attend.
The deceased who worked for a company based at King Shaka International Airport had just hitched hiked a ride with the driver of the Ford Bantam which collided with a truck minutes later.
The victims were residents of Waterloo & Cottonlands in KZN.
