Gauteng: At 11H30 Sunday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on Ontdekkers Road near Mouton Street in Roodepoort.

Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male cyclist was struck down by a heavy motor vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the scene and found that the cyclist had sustained serious injuries.

He was treated on scene however due to the nature of his injuries the Netcare 2 specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to hospital.

All necessary authorities were on scene.
