Today’s court proceedings were also closely monitored by advocate Gerrie Nel and his legal team. “The family approached AfriForum’s private prosecuting unit, because they felt the case was not being prioritised by the police. We will be taking on an advisory role, and supporting them through the legal process. Our aim is to see that justice is served,” Nel said.
The 29-year-old Onke Hartin Mashinini stands accused of premeditated murder, defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping and child neglect.
After his bail application was denied, he acquired the services of a private law firm, which indicated that they would like to re-apply for bail, and the previous hearing was postponed in order for them to obtain the transcripts of the bail hearing.
Defense is asking that the matter be postponed for two weeks, defense is still waiting for the transcripts of the previous bail hearing.
State now asking for the case to be postponed for three weeks.
