Home Invasion: Mt Edgecombe- KZN
A 74 year old grandmother & her family were attacked by four armed robbers in Mt Edgecombe – KZN this afternoon.
At approx 15:48 the Reaction Unit South Africa Operations Center in Phoenix received a call from a male seeking immediate response to his home in Mt Edgecombe. The caller informed the Controller that his family was being held up by armed suspects.
Reaction Officers, Paramedics & the RUSA Helicopter was despatched to the Golf Estate & upon arrival were informed that balaclava clad suspects armed with pistols had forced their way into the home after tampering with the driveway gate. The South African Police & several other private companies responded swiftly to the scene. The suspects fled prior to arrival of the First Responders & at that stage it was believed that they had fled on foot. The Helicopter then conducted a search for the suspects but was later re-routed after information was received that the getaway vehicle was possibly a white Mercedes-Benz C-class. This information has not been confirmed.
The 74 year old woman was treated by Paramedics after she suffered an anxiety attack. She informed Officers that one suspect had covered her mouth during the home invasion.
