LIMPOPO – As the country prepares to commemorate the country’s men and women in blue who lost their lives in the line of duty on Sunday.
Constable Mohophe Rankoe killed over the weekend has been remembered as a man of action and an officer who was allergic to crime.
Police Minister General Bheki Cele delivered a eulogy at the funeral of Constable Rankoe.
Minister Cele made a call to all officers in attendance and those across the country, “When you're under fire from criminals, you must know the law is on your side for you to use your tools of trade.” The Minister added “Make sure you act within the law but always remember to defend and serve.” General Cele concluded.
Rankoe met his untimely death while attending to a house robbery last Sunday in Braamfischer, Soweto when he and his partner came under fire by the alleged robbers.
The officer joined the South African Police Service in 2010.
Constable Mogophe Rankoe survived by his wife Portia and two daughters Itumeleng and Gobakwang.
