Provincial Commissioner warns people of scam #CrimeMustFall
NELSPRUIT – The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma warns people to be alert of a scam that has surfaced in the province, where unsuspecting people are conned of their hard-earned cash.
General Zuma’s warning comes after some incidents were reported, whereby criminals call complainants or victims of stolen/robbed property like vehicles pretending to be police officers and tell complainants that their property have been found, but handing over these property to the complainants might take a long time. In order to fast-track the process, these lawbreakers request a certain fee from the complainants and promise to give them their property within a day or two after payment of the stipulated amount. However, after receiving payment, these criminals just vanish and their phones suddenly go off.
