A Waterloo – Verulam family has been scammed by six (6) foreign males after they responded to a number on a poster that was placed at a robot (picture 2) on Wick Street – Verulam.

The homeowners informed Reaction Unit South Africa that they contacted the contractor who arrived at their home in a black Ford Ranger with orange & white decals. The man then took measurements of the driveway that had been partly completed months prior. He then quoted them R6000 & requested a R3000 deposit to complete the tarmac. He then left when the family informed him that they didn’t have the money & will contact him when they had the cash.

The family then borrowed the money & contacted the man who arrived at their home in an old gold E-class Mercedes Benz with GP registration plates & black mag rims. Six men then alighted from the vehicle & one collected the R3000 in cash. Four then drove off in the car & left two males with shovels on the premises. The homeowners became concerned when the two men left behind had also disappeared. All six men have not been located since.

If you have any information on the suspects, ownership on the black Ford Ranger or gold Mercedes Benz then please contact Reaction Unit South Africa on 0861234333.
