Two suspects arrested, firearms seized and cash recovered following business robbery in East London.

Eastern Cape: The speedy response by members of the East London Flying Squad led to the arrest of two male suspects 34 and 42 years of age.

It is alleged that at approximately 22:00 last night, 14 April 2018, four armed suspects entered a liquor store in East London and threatened the employees demanded alcohol and cash and fled the scene in a white Avanza with GP registration number plates.
The incident was circulated and all vehicles in the area were alerted.

About 30 minutes later, members of East London Flying Squad spotted the vehicle and managed to stop it. Two suspects got away, whilst the other two were arrested by the members.
During a preliminary investigation and a search of the vehicle, they recovered two (2) unlicensed firearms with ammunition , alcohol, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects, who face a charge of business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition will appear in the East London Magistrate Court on 16 April 2018.
