Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) will host a memorial service on Thursday for the eight workers who died in a massive explosion at their plant in Macassar two weeks ago.
The company announced the names of the eight workers killed in the incident and shared personal information about the men. "We feel it is important to honor our colleagues by sharing certain personal information about them.
We will also hold a memorial service at our RDM premises in Macassar near Somerset West on Thursday, 14:00, "said RDM CEO Norbert Schulze.

1)▪️ Nico Angelo Samuels, 41, was a supervisor at the company and grew up in Firgrove and later moved to Macassar. He has worked at RDM since 1999. He was a diligent cricketer who played for Macassar and RDM and was also a soccer fan. According to his family, he was humble and friendly. He is survived by his mother, Angel, his wife, Lawrencia, and four children, Nazli, Ismail, Liam and Kyle, as well as a granddaughter, Naaseeka.

2)▪️ Steve Isaacs (51) was a team leader at the company and started working at the company in 1985. He played rugby with the Vineyards club with all his brothers and was a big All Blacks supporter who also supported the Chelsea soccer club. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, his son, Justin, and his grandson, Matthew.

3)▪️ Mxolisi Sigadla, 40, was born in Idutywa, Eastern Cape, where he completed his matric before moving to Cape Town and joining RDM in 2014. According to his family, he loved playing soccer and listening to jazz music. He is survived by wife, his mother and three sisters.

4)▪️ Bradley Tandy, 19, grew up in Macassar where he went to school and played rugby and cricket for Macassar. His family says he was a sports enthusiast who watched sports on TV and was almost never seen without his phone in his hand. He is survived by his mother, Susan, his father, Mario, his two sisters, Roslyn and Camenitha, and his three brothers, Brendon, Mario and Clayton.

5)▪️ Jamie Lesley Haydricks (24) also grew up in Macassar. He loved dancing, cycling, rugby and soccer. His family says he likes making jokes and was also a DJ in his spare time. He is survived by his mother, Gwendolene, his father, Wayne, his sister, Jade; his girl, Lerieka, and their two children, Tiano and Jamie-Leigh.

6)▪️ Jason Hartzenberg (22) was born in Macassar and grew up in the Strand. He loved dancing and gave dance lessons to the children of the neighborhood. He played rugby at school and loved to fix bikes in his spare time. He is survived by his mother, Christine, his father, Jan Uithaler, his girlfriend, Tamsyn, and his daughter, Jaelynn.

7)▪️ Triston David David (22) was from Macassar and qualified as a basic ambulance assistant after school, but his dream was to become a paramedic. He had a brown belt in karate and was obsessed with exercises and gymnastics. He was also very religious and was the secretary of the Christian Reformed Church of the United Reformed Church. He is survived by his mother, Lizle, father, Malcolm, younger brother, Luciane, and younger sister, Miché.

8)▪️ Thandolwethu Mankayi, 27, or Victor, as he was known, grew up in Mfuleni where he also went to school. He was a soccer fan and loved music. He is survived by his mother, grandmother, two sisters, one brother and a six-year-old girl.

The company said further details about the memorial service will be announced later.
