TWO TSHWANE METRO POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS LOSE THEIR LIVES IN A HORRIFIC CAR CRASH WHICH INVOLVES AN ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER
An off-duty Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officer was involved in an
accident on Saturday evening at around 20:00 on the R80 Mabopane Highway after Ruth First Street.The accident scene was attended by two on-duty TMPD officers who rushed to assist with the accident.
While they were busy attending to the injured TMPD officer, a Mercedes Benz drove into them, causing a second accident which killed the off-duty officer and one of the officers who was assisting her. The other TMPD officer who was assisting with the first accident scene was injured.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz was also injured and he was arrested for suspected drunk driving.
The TMPD is saddened and shocked by the death of two of its officers and would like to send heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and colleagues. May their souls rest in peace.
