The psychologist who was found deceased in the Cecilia Forest in Cape Town on Thursday afternoon, Diane Nelson, 49, was neatly dressed and laid in a sleeping position under a tree.
According to an informant, Nelson told her fiancé that she was going to kill herself and that she was sorry about it. She greeted him in a WhatsApp message and said she could feel the pills starting to work now and that she was going to sleep.
Nelson suffered from depression.
Lieutenant Colonel. Western Cape police spokesperson Andrè Traut confirmed on Friday morning that a 49-year-old woman was found on Table Mountain on Thursday.
Traut says the circumstances of her death are being investigated and the police have opened a file for an inquest.
Nelson’s body was found Thursday after the search for her intensified and volunteers from the rescue organization Wildlife Search and Rescue also helped.
It is suspected that she had disappeared in the Cecilia Forest, located on the Constantia side of Table Mountain, after her vehicle was found on the parking lot of this forest.
She was last seen alive last Saturday the 23rd at 20:00. The organization Pink Ladies announced Friday that Nelson was dead.
News24 reported earlier this week Nelson’s family expressed their gratitude for everyone’s support and help with the search.
