Duo to appear for robbery and possession of suspected stolen property

NELSPRUIT – Two suspects Tumelo Rankwe (35) and Sipho Makgalemele (38) appeared at the KwaMhlanga Magistrate’s Court, today, on charges of robbery with a firearm and possession of suspected stolen property.

The duo were arrested on Sunday 07 April 2019, after police received information about a robbery in progress at a Cellphone Network Tower at SunCity AA, KwaMhlanga. Upon arrival, the police found two Security Guards tied up, while the suspects managed to flee on foot apparently upon seeing the men and women in blue, leaving behind the loot comprised of two generators, batteries, a signal jammer, a grinder as well as the getaway vehicle, an Isuzu Double Cab.

Moments later, the suspects walked into the police station while police were still obtaining statements from the Security Guards, claiming that they had been hijacked. The Guards identified them as the suspects that had stormed their workplace and tied them up before fleeing from the police.

Meanwhile, members of the South African Police Service are looking for a group suspects linked to the bombing of two drop safes as well as carried out a robbery at a filling station, close to a shopping centre, also at KwaMhlanga. The suspects allegedly stormed into the filling station in the early hours of the morning on 08 April 2019, instructing staff members to leave before proceeding to the cashier’s room where they blew open the two safes with explosives.

They reportedly took an undisclosed amount of cash before firing shots on their way out, disappearing from the scene, it was later established that two passersby had been injured by those shots that were fired.
