Elderly woman raped, man (58) arrested

KIMBERLEY – A 58-year-old man of Roodepan was arrested by the Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit members in connection with the rape of a 72-year-old woman. It is alleged that the elderly woman was raped yesterday, 04 November 2019 along Hammerkop Street in Roodepan at about 13:00.
The victim immediately alerted the police about her ordeal and a manhunt for the rapist`s search was activated. The suspect was later arrested in Roodepan. The suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrates court soon. Police investigation continues.
Meanwhile the police in Warrenton have launched an intensive search for the suspect that murdered a 96-year-old woman at Warrenton over the weekend. It is reported that the elderly woman was attacked by a gun wielding man on Friday, 01 November 2019 at about 22:30. The victim was robbed of her television set, five live chickens and meat from the freezer. The victim who was stabbed with a knife by the suspect, was discovered by a neighbour and was rushed to the local Hospital where she later died as a result of the injuries she sustained.
