A word from Lisa Burger, Netcare 911 HEMS pilot Western Cape Region.

Being a HEMS pilot has given me some of the greatest moments in my aviation career. I love teamwork, and in EMS everyone has their own special role to play to pull off a successful mission.
It’s a personal goal of mine to make a positive difference to someone else’s life, and I love that I get the opportunity to do this every day through a career that I really enjoy.

The public has a preconception that aviation is a male-dominated environment, but that definitely should not stop women from pursuing a career in it. For the most part, as pilots, we are all just enjoying our jobs and sharing our passion with fellow aviation enthusiasts. To anyone who is unsure of pursuing a pilot career – if you have a passion for it, go for it!
