Accused sentenced for rape #Sentencing
KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: Tsomo Regional Magistrate’s Court sentenced three (3) rapists on Wednesday, 21 November 2018. The sentencing came after the three accused raped a 19-year-old woman at Bhongitole Locality, Hebe-hebana Village, Ngqamakhwe on 15 May 2014 at about 21h00.
The three accused were traced and arrested. 23-year-old Sesethu Bhuqa was sentenced to undergo 20 years imprisonment, 22 year-old Sive Mgqobhoka and 23-year-old Nqaba Mayaphi were each sentenced to undergo 25 years imprisonment.
Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu has welcomed the sentencing of the accused. He further emphasized that the sentences will serve as a deterrent to would-be perpetrators of crimes against women and children.
