#16DaysOfActivism #HearMeToo
Gauteng: Boipatong SAPS in the Sedibeng Cluster opened a new Victim Friendly Facility at an official ceremony attended by the Deputy National Commissioner for Human Resource Management, Lieutenant General Bonang Mgwenya, and top management of the SAPS in Gauteng today.
Boipatong SAPS won first runner-up position at the 2017/2018 National Excellence Awards and management utilized the prize money to erect this much needed Victim Friendly Facility, which will take the station a long way in responding efficiently to the plight of victims of gender-based and domestic violence.
Lieutenant General Bonang Mgwenya encouraged police officers to adopt the fight against gender based violence beyond the 16 Days campaign, and make it a daily priority. Lt Gen Mgwenya said: “The opening of Boipatong Victim Friendly Centre should serve as a beacon of hope to the communities we serve. Police will prioritize the maximization of partnerships with communities in the fight against crime as police cannot win the fight alone. Eradication of crime is a collective responsibility, just as the fight against gender based violence is a societal priority”.
