Bonteheuwel Community-led sessions against crime #PartnershipPolicing #CommunityOutreach

In an effort to root out incidents of gang violence and other serious violent crimes, members of the Bonteheuwel Neighbourhood Watch, Councillors, local CPF, Religious leaders and Bishop Lavis police launched open air sessions to highlight challenge of gang violence and other serious crimes in the area.

Key to the engagements are discussions on crime prevention and fighting initiatives to empower the community. Recently the area saw scenes of protests by the community against the scourge of gang violence plaguing the area.

More sessions are yet to take place at identified locations. This evening the group converged on Mahogany Street for the second session. It is also envisaged the engagements will serve as a deterrent to further incidents of crime and mobilise the affected communities to action.
