EASTERN CAPE – According to the Department of Health, movement of people and especially interprovincial movement highly contributes to the numbers of new reported Covid-19 cases, hence community members and more especially those that reside near the boarders of the Eastern Cape Province are reminded to minimize such movements and Stay At Home during the lockdown period.

Today, 09 May 2020, SAPS members from Corporate Communication and Liaison visited Mount Ayliff, Mount Frere, Qumbu and Bizana located near the borders of KwaZulu-Natal, to embark on their ongoing awareness campaign of educating people about the dangers of the Corona virus and the need to comply with the Disaster Management Act regulations by citizens.

During the campaign, station visits were also conducted by the team to ensure adherence of members to Covid-19 regulations while offering front line services to members of the community. Issues relating to corporate image and corporate identity of the South African Police Service at station level as the core function of the component were also addressed.

The Government is appealing to all of us to assist in managing the spread of the disease by adhering to measures that are put in place.
