GAUTENG – The Deputy Minister of Police,Mr Bongani Mkongi today delivered the Key Note Address at the Gauteng School Safety Summit held under the theme : “Safer Schools to support learning and teaching.”
The Summit is held at the Birchwood Conference Centre,Boksburg. Approximately 3000 Stakeholders are attending the summit including the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Ms Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane and MEC for Education Mr Panyaza Lesufi. The Deputy Minister has embarked on a roadshow to engage different provinces on this matter so as to prepare for a bigger summit, in particular those that are affected by this challenge.
Violence in schools is a societal problem which requires all stakeholders to play their part to create a safe schooling environment Deputy Minister Mkongi said "We must define the role of teachers and parents while at the same time the learners must take responsibility of their actions,"
