Festival of Hope
Eastern Cape: In an effort to quell gang violence among the youth in and around the Northern areas of Port Elizabeth, the South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape, led by the Provincial Commissioner Lt General Ntshinga and the Community Police Forum members of the Mount Road Cluster, are forging partnership with the Nelson Mandela Metro Municipality in an unique crime awareness campaign with a modern twist called "Festival Of Hope" in the area.
The initiative has an objective of creating awareness and instilling hope in the community especially the youth.
The event staged in a music festival format will be a platform to crease awareness on recent plights of the people fearing for their lives on a daily basis in the area to stop the violence and giving people renewed goals and vision in raising the profile of local heroes in the area.
The programme is aimed at giving the Youth new direction in providing progressive and innovative role models vs gang related activities.
The Provincial Commissioner is expected to deliver the Keynote Address. Various key stakeholders and entities will pledge their commitment in the fight against crime.
The Youth will be entertained by various artists.
