Five perpetrators apprehended in Harare with unlicensed firearm #GunsOffTheStreets

WESTERN CAPE – In their endeavours to protect the communities from criminals, the Harare police arrest five suspects in Kuyasa, in Khayelitsha today at about 01:00.

Police members were conducting a search for wanted suspects in the area and in their pursuit they noticed an unknown vehicle driving recklessly in Kuyasa.

The driver of the grand Cherokee accelerated as soon as he noticed the Police vehicle approaching them. He tried to evade arrest but members acted rapidly and halted the vehicle, and arrested the five occupants.

On searching the vehicle members found a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition and seized it. The vehicle was also confiscated.

The five suspects aged between 22 and 31 are due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of illegal firearm and ammunition.
