Gauteng announces measures to deal with drivers’ licence renewal backlog
The Department in partnership with the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) will today, at 10h00, announce new measures to address
the drivers’ licence renewal backlog.This follows the announcement by National Department of Transport to extend the validity of expired drivers’ licence cards, learners’ licences and professional driving permit until 31 March 2022.
Introducing interventions to address inefficiencies in the system, the MEC will unveil to the public a strategy to overcome these and address the backlog.
