KwaZulu-Natal: Robbery suspect dies in shootout with police

Kwambonambi police recovered two illegal firearms as well as cash and arrested a robbery suspect. On 9 November 2018 at 12:00, police responded to a robbery at a post office in Kwambonambi and they came across three armed suspects who fired a number of shots at the police. During the shootout with police one suspect was fatally wounded. The second suspect was arrested whilst the third one managed to evade arrest and is still being sought. Police recovered stolen cash, a revolver and a pistol, both with their serial numbers filed off.

Cases of robbery, attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms were opened at the Kwambonambi police station. The arrested suspect (33) will be charged for robbery, attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms. He will appear in court on 12 November 2018. #TrioCrimes #FightingCrime
