Limpopo: Community Outreach #Imbizo and official opening of satellite police station

Lephalale: On Friday, 09 November, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Scheepers officially opened the Marapong Sattelite Police Station preceded by a community outreach Imbizo. The Cluster Commander of Polokwane, Major General Mashilo addressed the attendees about the purpose of the event. He emphasized on how service delivery is a priority for the SAPS and with the opened government of this satellite police station we are bringing service to our communities.

During the Acting Provincial Commissioner’s key note address, Major General Jan Scheepers has informed members of the community that the Marapong Satellite Police Station was built on the basis of strengthening the fight against crime and it should be everybody's responsibility to protect it and to support the police officials who will be operating from here.

Members of the community are encouraged to maintain a strong partnership with the police by joining the crime prevention forums within their areas.

The General has further outlined that "Crime prevention is a collective effort that needs both the police and the community to work in partnership".

He dedicated a special vote of thanks to the Exxaro Coal Mine management for their contribution in bringing services to our community of Marapong by donating this satellite Police Station.

"I want to call upon all civil society groups, the private sectors, Churches and other relevant organizations to add more energy in taking part in Policing initiatives to effectively squeeze crime to zero throughout the province", concluded Major General Scheepers. #ServingOurCommunities
