Limpopo: Police nabbed Three Suspects involved in the disappearance of a woman

Polokwane: The Police in Marble Hall outside Groblersdal have made a major breakthrough by arresting three (03) suspects involved in the disappearance of a 38-year-old woman this week.

The Dedicated Team of SAPS members composed of the Detectives and the Crime Intelligence, worked tirelessly around the clock since the mysterious disappearance of Rebecca Maleswena on 28 February 2019, from Moganyaka village outside Marble Hall.

During the ongoing operation and investigations in this matter, Suliman Makambira aged 39, was arrested at Meadowlands in the Gauteng Province, whereas, Lucky Mmaphafudi aged 30 and Selina Phiri aged 40, were both arrested in Marble Hall. Phiri was first to be arrested a few days after Maleswena's disappearance and appeared before the Marble Magistrate’s Court. She was denied bail and the case was postponed to the 23 April 2019 for bail application and pending further police investigations.

The other two suspects also appeared before the Marble Hall Magistrate’s Court this week on the 03rd of April 2019, where they were all denied bail until their next court appearance on the 09th of April 2019 for a formal bail application and pending further police investigations. These suspects are facing a charge of kidnapping.

The arrest of the three, comes after an incident where Maleswena, an employee at a surgery in Marble Hall town, was reported missing on 28 February 2019 by her family after she failed to return home.

It is alleged that Maleswena received a phone call from an unknown woman who arranged to meet her at a food outlet next to the Marble Taxi rank. She boarded a taxi from her home and was never seen again.

The matter was reported to the Police who started with their investigations. The Police followed up on information of the possibility that her body might have been disposed of in the crocodile infested Olivant river in Leeuwfontein.

The Police Search and Rescue Team was immediately activated and the search operation in this river ensued from the beginning of this week for two days with no success.

The three arrested suspects are positively linked to the disappearance of the woman. The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage however police investigations continue.

The Police search operation for the missing woman and the investigations into the kidnapping charges are still underway.
