Mother arrested for abandoning baby #ChildProtection2018

Mdantsane Cluster: The Mdantsane woman who allegedly abandoned her baby girl in the river stream in NU2, Mdantsane has been arrested today.

The 23-year-old woman was arrested at her NU2 home hours after the baby was found by community members and brought to the police station.

Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit took over the investigation, the baby is doing well at a local hospital.

The suspect is due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on a charge of child abandonment soon.
