#NATIONALPOLICEDAY OFF TO A GREAT RUN
Today we are commemorating National Police Day to celebrate serving Police members and also those who died in the line of duty.
The day was approved by Cabinet in 2005 as an important day of the South African Government calendar. The celebrations started at 5:30AM with police men and women taking to the streets of Nelspruit to run against crime.
Just before the run started, Police Deputy Minister Mr Bongani Mkongi addressed the police officers at the starting line saying the run shows Police Officers are fit and will not hesitate to run after criminals when the situation calls for it. Lieutenant General Bonang Mgwenya wished all the police officers well in the run.
The commemoration will shortly be continuing as various sporting codes games are get underway at Mbombela Stadium.
On the other hand, Minister Bheki Cele and National Commissioner General Khehla Sithole will be officially opening the Kwamhlushwa Police Station, followed by a medal parade and a community engagement as part of the commemoration.
