Northern Cape: Communicators conclude media training workshop with Crime Prevention duties
The Media Training Workshop held in Kimberley was concluded with foot patrols in Kimberley CBD by the communicators.
Members displayed high visibility in the Kimberley CBD as part of assisting Kimberley police Station in the fight against crime.
The Station Commander of Kimberley, Colonel Rikhotso appreciated the initiative taken by communicators who executed the patrols.
The Northern Cape Corporate Communications Office hosted a Media Training Workshop at the Kimberley SAPS gymnasium from 23 July until 25 July 2019. The SAPS Corporate Communications Head in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Ramatseba welcomed almost 40 members while Northern Cape Provincial Communication Official, Captain Kock did the daily devotions. The SAPS Head Office Corporate Communication facilated the workshop and conducted the sessions as follows:
Colonel Dimakatso Mokwena presented Language Etiquette comprising of basic and effective writing skills, journalism ethics and how to handle the media in the communication environment.
Lieutenant Colonel Natasha Pruis facilitated the social media session with a very informative presentation on how to use this platform as a valuable and powerful communication tool. This content also touched on the dos and don’ts of using social media, especially in the private capacity as a SAPS member.
Colonel Phupheli engaged the attendees on the basic TV and radio interview skills and also facilitated a practical exercise to improve skills in this field.
Colonel Nendauni and Captain Fumba focused on the New National Instruction on Film and Television Liaison.
A message of support was delivered by the National Chairperson of the Police Community Consultative Forum and Provincial Chairperson of the Community Police Board, Mr Homan. Captain Beukes of the Provincial Employee Health and Wellness Unit relayed a message of colleague sensitivity and working in synergy as a team. #MediaRelations #LESM
