OPERATION COROLLA CONTINUE TO BREAK THE GROUNDS OF VEHICLE CERTIFICATION FRAUDSTERS
PRETORIA– Operation Corolla will leave no stone unturned in an attempt to address allegations of fraud and corruption at vehicle testing stations in the Province.
The Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Unit in collaboration with Road Traffic Management Corporation and Special Investigative Unit have arrested eighteen (18) more officials from two different privately-owned vehicle testing stations in Polokwane on 2019-10-17.
The officials allegedly used the identity particulars of unsuspecting individuals repeatedly to process and authorise roadworthy certificates for vehicles that were never physically brought to the testing stations.
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mr Namane Dickson Masemola and RTMC CEO Advocate Makhosini Msibi joined the operation and called for more arrests to make roads safer.
A total number of thirty-two (32) officials were arrested in different parts of the Province this week alone. Four were arrested in Lephalale on Monday and ten (10) were arrested in Marble Hall on Wednesday.
The seventeen (17) suspects arrested today will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate Court tomorrow on 2019-10-21. The other suspects will also be appearing at their respective Magistrate Courts on 2019-10-18.
