Police arrest #Wanted murder suspect in Sophiatown
GAUTENG – Police have been following up on information of murder and attempted murder since April 2016 after two people were shot while standing at Agatha flats, Newclare.
One of the victims noticed a marked police vehicle with two rival gang members sitting at the back seat. The police vehicle then stopped out of sight and as they looked up, the two Varador gang members who were in the police vehicle came towards them. Both suspects were armed with handguns and started shooting at the victims. During the shootout, Reagan Jacobs died at the scene and the other victim was wounded. After the shooting the suspect then got back into the police vehicle and drove off.
On the 14 May 2019, the Anti-Gang Unit investigating officer received the docket, immediately after reading the statements he went to Johannesburg Magistrate’s court and applied for the J50 warrant of arrest for the suspects. The first suspect Mr Charles Aka Pitso was arrested on 20 May 2019; the case is remanded to the 29th of May 2019. Yesterday, 28 May 2019 at about 07:45, Anti-Gang Unit and Crime Intelligence members went to Moffatview where the second suspect was arrested and held at Sophia Town police station for murder and attempted murder.
Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the investigating officer and his team for the job well done.
The suspect will be appearing in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon
