Police arrested thirty five wanted suspects in Westrand

Last night, 20 June 2019 at about 22:00 an intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of 35 wanted suspects in Westrand. The suspects were arrested for crime ranging from murder, car hijacking, theft of a motor vehicle, house robberies and dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile during operation O Kae Molao, police in Bekkersdal arrested 109 suspects. Among those arrested, 33 were illegal immigrants. During the operations 44 cell phones and gold dust were confiscated. Two cars were impounded, two firearms were recovered and two illegal liquor outlets were closed.
Furthermore, Benoni police arrested six illegal miners. The suspects were found with equipment used for illegal mining and police also recovered 410kg copper cables suspected to be stolen.
The arrested suspects will appear in Westonaria and Benoni Magistrate's Courts on Monday, 24 June 2019.
