Police recover 36 parcels dagga in Marikana informal settlement #CrimeStop
Western Cape: During normal patrolling duties and visible policing in the area, Philippi-East Crime Prevention Unit members arrested a 47 year old man in the Marikana Informal Settlement this morning for possession of dagga.
Police members followed up on information from the community about a shack where it was suspected that dagga was being stored and sold. They went to the address, identified themselves and asked permission to search the property, where they found 36 parcels of dagga in a bag. They arrested a 47 year old suspect on charges related to the possession of dagga.
Police are further requesting the public to come forward with any information of any suspicious criminal activities in the community by contacting Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or Philippi-East SAPS at 021 370 1900/4.
In an unrelated matter, two zip guns plus ammunition were recovered by Strandfontein SAPS members. On Monday (2018-07-10) at 06:00 police followed up on information received related to a murder which occurred on Friday 2018-07-06 at Leander Road in Bay View. Members acted on this information and found the zip guns buried on an open field. No arrest has been made yet and an inquiry was opened by Strandfontein detectives. The zip guns were booked into the SAPS property register.
