SAPS National Commemoration Day- 2019
Constable PG de Lange, for the oath you took, your bravery and protection we say “Baie Dankie/Thank you”
In loving memory of a fallen hero, the SAPS found it fitting to engrave your name on the national memorial wall situated in the Union Buildings, to signify the gratitude of the nation.
The late Constable PG de Lange was stationed at Westernburg Police Station in Limpopo.
When many people were preparing for bed or beginning with their daily responsibilities, the late Constable De Lange knew that he had to ensure their safety, be it day or night, for the past 11 years.
The late member was among the many, who was watching over us. He wore his blue uniform with pride and was more than a police official to many. He acted without hesitation to assist the victims of crime and brought messages of support to many families when all were not well.
Sadly, while answering to a duty call on 8 November 2018, the late Constable De Lange, only 30 years of age, and his partner were ambushed by four armed suspects and he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The late Constable De Lange left behind his wife and three children, with the youngest aged only seven. The SAPS’s management salutes your bravery, loyalty and sacrifices to serve and protect – no longer with us, but never forgotten. RIP Constable De Lange #FinalSalute
