The SAPS to launch the Anti-Gang Unit in the Western Cape
To curb the ongoing gang violence and criminal activities in the gang-infested areas with the aim of creating a society, which will be safe for children and adults to walk freely without fear, the Ministry of Police and the South African Police Service (SAPS) will launch the Anti-Gang Unit today, 2 November 2018.
The launch of the unit will assist in minimizing the high rate of drug dealings and proliferation of illegal firearms that contribute to crimes, such as murder and gang violence.
Since the deployment of the members of the Anti-Gang Unit, several successes have been achieved, including arresting the suspects involved in the killing of the 19-year-old Gift of the Givers volunteer, Amierodeen Noordien.
Details about the event are as follows:
Date: 2 November 2018
Venue: Downsberg Sports Field, Hanover Park, Western Cape
