NORTHERN CAPE – The Upington Border police pounced on three unsuspecting suspects and confiscated dagga worth approximately R1.2 million.
The sting operation was executed this morning, when the Upington SAPS Border Policing Unit and Upington K9 unit swiftly reacted on information of dagga that is being stored at a house in Upington.
Upon arrival at the premises police found 42 bags of dagga stashed on the porch, allegedly ready for transportation. The police arrested three adult male suspects for dealing in dagga and also confiscated a black Honda Ballade belonging to the suspects. The suspects will appear in the Upington Magistrates Court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri lauded the Upington SAPS members and the community for the role they played in this great success. “This truly shows we are on a journey to a safer South Africa. Together we are creating a safe and secure environment, that is conducive for social and economic stability, supporting a better life for all, said Lt Gen Shivuri.”
